If your vehicle were stolen or damaged beyond repair, you would be liable to pay the difference between your insurance settlement (the value of the vehicle) and your outstanding loan/lease balance. For a very small cost, GAP Insurance will cover that difference plus may pay a certain amount towards your insurance deductible!
